Residential Concept
2021
Nestled within a residential neighborhood, the vacant 15m-wide and 40m-long plot lies un-bordered on three of its sides and accessible from a two-lane secondary street. The family of four desired a house that would provide them with solitude to nurture their private lives and permeable boundaries that would cater to their social lives. In consideration of this, the design proposal responds to the narrow site with extended linear spatial orientations that overlook a play of levels. With the second level sensitively placed at the lower ground level, a sunken garden provides intimacy and opportunity for gathering while overlooked by a double height space and the entrance above. Clerestory windows and skylights framed between floating slabs offer an ethereal connection to the sky above and an enlarged feeling of space.
